Deep excavations are usual in construction, such as basements, underground car parks, or metro stations. A rigorous analysis of these structures is required to ensure stability, optimize the retaining systems, avoid excessive seepage and minimize disturbance to neighboring structures.

This course will introduce the participants to a fast and efficient methodology for the analysis of deep excavations with finite elements using Optum G2. Many of the concepts presented are also applicable for other geotechnical problems.

Contents

  • The role of FEM in the design of deep excavations
  • Hands-on: definition of an Optum G2 model
  • Influence of the material model on the numerical results
  • Seepage and pore water pressures
  • Incorporation of different structural elements

Optum License

A discount equal to the course fee will be applied to the purchase of a 1-year Optum G2 license! If you are interested in participating in more than one Optum Crash Course contact us to apply for a discount!
